Why We Need Sanctuary More Than Solutions
Fertility struggles can quietly become a full-time job.
The research.
The appointments.
The symptom spotting.
The supplements.
The endless search for the thing that might finally make a difference.
And whilst information, treatment and support all have an important place, what happens when we become so focused on solving the problem that we forget to care for the person living through it?
In this episode, I'm exploring the idea that perhaps what we need isn't always another solution.
Perhaps what we need is a sanctuary.
A space to pause.
To breathe.
To reconnect with ourselves beneath the pressure, uncertainty and constant searching.
We'll explore:
• Why fertility struggles can pull us away from ourselves
• The hidden cost of constantly looking for answers
• How creating space can lead to powerful shifts in perspective
• Why your wellbeing matters just as much as your fertility journey
If you've been feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or like you've lost yourself somewhere along the way, this episode is a gentle invitation to come back to yourself.

Hi lovely, and welcome back to The Heart of Fertility. Today, I want to talk to you about something that has been on my mind a lot recently, the idea that perhaps what we need isn't another solution, another product, another system of tracking, but perhaps what we need instead is a sanctuary Have you ever noticed how much of this journey is spent searching? Searching for answers, googling, searching for clues and symptom spotting, searching for the thing that will finally change everything and make our dreams come true. Another supplement, another test, a new diet, special exercises or even positions, another treatment, another article, another success story that gives us hope. And before we know it, we've spent so much time trying to solve the problem that we've forgotten to care for the person that's living through it, ourselves. I know I did, and our partners too I spent years searching fertility supplements, IVF success rates, the best clinics, treatments, tests, diets, acupuncture, reflexology, medications, and anything else that might help. And while there is absolutely a place for all the information, medical support, and different therapies, I also noticed something else. The more I searched for answers outside of myself, the further away I seemed to get from myself and from my partner. I became so focused on fixing the problem, fixing myself, trying to fix my body or the system, that I forgot to look after the person experiencing the problem in the first place, me Maybe this sounds like you too. Maybe you spend your days carrying all of these thoughts and more. The appointments and the waiting, the uncertainty, the hope that ebbs and flows with your monthly cycle, the disappointment The responsibility, the expectations, the pressure that we put on ourselves and maybe our friends and family do too And perhaps you're so busy surviving every day that you haven't had a chance to stop and ask yourself, "How am I really doing? How do I really feel?" What do I really need regardless of fertility, outside of fertility? What about me Because sometimes what we need isn't another strategy at all. It's a moment to pause, to breathe, to think, to hear ourselves again, to rediscover that there is more to me than fertility. Who was the person I was before this journey began, before it took over my life? Looking back, some of the biggest breakthroughs in my own life didn't happen because somebody gave me another answer or a magic pill. They happened when life forced me to stop long enough to hear myself again. And this week reminded me of something really powerful. When we create space, answers often begin to emerge, not because somebody tells us what to do, but because we finally have enough quiet to hear our own wisdom, our own inner voice Our own bodies, when we actually listen to what it's desperately trying to tell us. I've discovered that some of the biggest turning points in my life didn't come from somebody giving me advice. They came from a realization, a shift in perspective, a moment where I saw something differently, and that's why a sanctuary matters. It's not about escaping life, although sometimes that's definitely what we're craving, but it's about reconnecting, with ourselves. It's about creating enough space to remember who you are underneath all the pressure and uncertainty Because as I've said before, whilst fertility may be a part of your story, it isn't all of who you are. You're still here. You still matter. Your wellbeing still matters, and your life is happening right now So today, I'd like to leave you with one simple question What do you need more of in your life right now? Not what does everyone else need from you, but what do you need? And perhaps this week you can give yourself permission to honor the answer Thank you so much for spending this time with me today, and I'll be here with you on the next Heart of Fertility
